As a general rule, the minimum age for driving on British roads are 16 years old for mopeds, 17 years old for tractors, small vehicles – which includes most cars - and motorcycles, and 21 years old for medium to large sized vehicles, including minibuses and buses.
If you need to apply for or renew a Driving Licence, please be aware that you may be able to use the application process at BSOM office. See the DVLA website for further information.
Theory and Hazard Perception Test
Both test need to be successfully passed before you can apply for a practical test.
For cars and motorcycles you'll be asked 50 questions in 57 minutes and the pass mark is 43 out of 50.
The multiple choice part is delivered using a touch screen computer and the hazard perception part records your responses through the use of a computer mouse button.
In the Hazard you'll be presented with a series of 14 video clips which feature every day road scenes. In each clip there'll be at least one developing hazard, but one of the clips will feature two developing hazards.
The pass mark for the car and motorcycle hazard perception part of the theory test is 44 out of 75.
